Professor Rossolini, well-known pediatric doctor, reached us with a message:
The theme of “Bullying” deserves particular attention in a type of society where epochal changes have taken place; technical, cultural, relational. Becoming aware of what has happened is certainly the main road to hypothesize solutions which in my opinion to be effective must necessarily sink the roots in culture and science. It is through the sharing of synergistic paths that are outlined from the early years of compulsory school in society, in the family, in the school that one can think of modifying the way in which we inhabit the world. Unfortunately the taste for reading has been lost, for discovering parts of ourselves and of the other through a critical and self-critical capacity that derives from the knowledge of timeless authors that allow us to discover and rediscover the meaning of existence and, thanks to the critical capacity, to savor true inner freedom. Man has created the machine which instead of becoming a support to simplify some dimensions of the social has also invaded the dimension of spirit and human relationships. In addition to this, culture is often spoken of almost as if it were a daily spot advertising or a magic or even as if it were disseminated by Bodies and institutions that transform themselves into agencies with business logics where students and professors assume the aspect of bureaucrats or managers who must pay more attention to market arguments than to the transmission of contents. Scientific knowledge often continues to be rigorously separated from the humanistic one and few manage to understand what and how much has been the contribution that science has brought over the years offering us fundamental decodings and neuronal changes that also occur during the processes of fruition of culture. The transmission of culture through the media if on one side embraces an ever wider number of people, on the other is transmitted in an increasingly superficial way with a kind of hit and run that prevents deepening any topic. In this way the taste for learning is lost and the true passion cannot be transmitted. If a possible path exists it is that of making true culture and not only talking about it in order to re-build a Universe of which to be part. These in my opinion are the bases for an ethical renewal that knows how to give all the answers to future generations passing precisely through poetry, art, music, literature.
